The 55 Kip Center, located in Rutherford, New Jersey, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of older adults. Established in 1985 in a local parish house in partnership with the Interfaith Council of Rutherford, the center initially offered programs and meals on Saturdays only. In April 1995, it relocated to its current address at 55 Kip Avenue and expanded to a full-time, comprehensive program. The center's mission is to promote the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual well-being of older adults and encourage their active participation in the community. It serves as a community focal point for seniors in Rutherford and 14 surrounding communities in southwest Bergen County, with a membership of over 700 individuals. The 55 Kip Center is distinguished as one of only three nationally accredited "Senior Centers of Excellence" in New Jersey and is the only such center in the northern part of the state. This accreditation highlights its commitment to providing high-quality services and programs. The center offers a wide range of activities designed to reflect the diverse needs and interests of its members, enhance their dignity, and support their independence. It operates with a professional staff and dedicated volunteers who foster a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment for all who attend.
