Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, founded in 1897 as the Norwegian Lutheran Deaconess Home and Hospital, is a 645-bed non-profit teaching hospital located in Park Ridge, Illinois. The current hospital in Park Ridge opened its doors in 1959. It is recognized as the sixth-largest hospital in the Chicago area and is a nationally recognized academic and research institution, serving Chicago's North and Northwest suburbs and a broader geographic area extending to Aurora, Rockford, and the Wisconsin border.
