Methodology & sources
Cost figures are statewide medians from the CareScout Cost of Care Survey (2025 state dataset; national medians from 2025). CareScout’s 2025 survey was collected July–November 2025 (25,000+ rates). Costs are medians for a state; the cost in a specific city or metro can run meaningfully higher or lower, and actual prices vary by level of care, amenities, and provider. Monthly equivalents for annual figures divide by 12. Coverage: all 50 states. Read full research methodology →
Provider supply is the count of published senior care providers per state in the families.care directory (June 2026 snapshot). Population denominators are U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey 2024 1-year estimates of the population aged 65+ (Table B01001). "Providers per 100K 65+" = published providers ÷ state 65+ population × 100,000.
