Access to Healthcare network
Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) is a non-profit organization established in 2006 with the mission of increasing access to primary and specialty healthcare services for uninsured and underinsured residents of Nevada. The concept for AHN originated from a recognized need to address the large number of uninsured individuals in the state. The organization's founding was supported by community partners, including Renown Health. AHN operates on a "Shared Responsibility Model," which involves collaboration between members, healthcare providers, and the community to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Members pay an income-based membership fee to gain access to a network of over 2,000 healthcare providers who offer their services at significantly reduced rates. This model aims to control healthcare costs by encouraging preventive care and reducing hospitalizations for preventable conditions. AHN provides a variety of services focused on care coordination and improving the health and well-being of the community. Key programs include the 'Access Medical' medical discount program, non-emergency medical transportation, breast and cervical cancer screenings through the Women's Health Connection program, and assistance with managing chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. The organization also serves as a certified enrollment entity for Nevada Health Link, assisting individuals and families in enrolling in health insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. AHN serves a wide range of populations, including low-income individuals, the elderly, and those with disabilities, across Northern, Southern, and Rural Nevada. Their services extend to providing resources such as assistance with food, caregiver support, and financial planning.
