Access Tusc Transit

Access Tusc Transit is a rural public transportation system dedicated to providing safe, reliable, affordable, and efficient transportation to the residents of Tuscarawas County, Ohio, regardless of income or age. [2, 4] It operates as a program of Access Tusc, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was formed in late 2014 by approximately 24 partner organizations to create a common resource for social and health services in the county. [4] Access Tusc itself has been tax-exempt since December 2015. [6] All Access Tusc Transit vehicles are handicapped accessible, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to their services. [4] The mission of Access Tusc is to actively collaborate, educate, and coordinate social and health services to improve access and integrated care for the communities in Tuscarawas and surrounding counties. [9] Access Tusc Transit offers transportation for a variety of needs, including medical appointments, work, and shopping. [7, 11] They provide both in-county and out-of-county transportation, extending their services up to 150 miles outside of Tuscarawas County, with all services being dependent on the availability of the date and time. [4] As a contracted provider for the Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services, they offer transportation for Medicaid-eligible individuals to their medical appointments. [8] To use the service, individuals must be registered riders, and new riders are required to complete a registration form before scheduling a trip. [3] Ride requests can be made online, but for same-day or next-day trips, it is recommended to call their office directly.
