Amador Transit
Amador Transit is a public transportation agency that has been serving Amador County, California since its establishment in November 1976. [5] It began with a modest fleet of three small vans and has since grown into a comprehensive transit system. Governed by the Amador Regional Transit System, the agency plays a crucial role in connecting the communities within this rural county. [7] Amador Transit's mission is to provide safe, reliable, and accessible transportation to all residents, and it actively engages in public education to increase awareness of its services. [18] The agency's headquarters are located at 11400 American Legion Drive in Jackson, with a main transit hub, the Sutter Hill Transit Center, situated in Sutter Creek. [5] The core services offered by Amador Transit include fixed-route bus services, a paratransit service known as "Dial-a-Ride," and a volunteer-based program called "Amador Rides." The fixed-route services operate on weekdays, connecting key areas such as Jackson, Sutter Creek, Plymouth, Ione, Pine Grove, and Pioneer. [5] Additionally, a Sacramento Express route provides weekday commuter connections to downtown Sacramento, including stops at the airport and light rail stations. [7] The Dial-a-Ride service offers curb-to-curb transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed-route buses. [5] This ADA-compliant paratransit service covers areas including Jackson-Sutter Creek, Pine Grove, Pioneer, Ione, and Plymouth. [5] For healthcare-related travel, the Amador Rides program, established in 2014, connects residents who have no other means of transportation with volunteer drivers for medical, dental, and mental health appointments. [13] Amador Transit has also partnered with LogistiCare to provide non-emergency medical trips for Medi-Cal patients. [11] Amador Transit is committed to serving the entire community, including those with limited English proficiency, and provides language assistance services. [9] The agency operates a fleet that includes buses and wheelchair-accessible vans to accommodate the diverse needs of its passengers. [13] Their services are primarily available on weekdays, with no regular weekend service. The administrative office in Jackson is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and the dispatch center operates from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays. [3]
