JFS became a separate organization, with its own 501 (c)(3) status in 1976, and opened its doors to people of all faiths in 1982. JFS now serves individuals and families in the Greater New Orleans area, regardless of race, religion, disability, gender, or sexual orientation. Services are available on a sliding-scale fee based on household income.
