Abe’s Garden Community, formerly known as Park Manor Apartments, is a premier senior living community located in the Belle Meade area of Nashville. Its history dates back to 1962, when Park Manor opened its doors as a pioneering retirement community founded by Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., Hugh Knox, and Dr. Thomas Barr. In 2015, the campus expanded with the addition of Abe's Garden, a world-class memory care center named in honor of Dr. Abram “Abe” Shmerling, which has since become a national model for dementia care excellence. The community now operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating the quality of life for seniors through research-based practices and a person-directed care philosophy. The facility offers a full continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, and highly specialized memory support.
