Alert Ambulance Service Inc., a subsidiary of Paramedic Systems, Inc. (PSI), is a provider of emergency and non-emergency medical transportation services across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. PSI was established in 1986 in Bristol, Rhode Island, as the state's first private ambulance company to offer 24-hour paramedic-level service. PSI acquired Alert Ambulance Service, which was founded in 1975, in 1989. The company has since grown to operate from 11 satellite locations, including the one in Bristol, RI, with a team of over 375 employees. Alert Ambulance provides a range of medical transportation solutions, including Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), bariatric transportation, and wheelchair-accessible van services. In addition to its transportation services, Alert Ambulance launched a new division in 2021 called Alert Healthcare. This division focuses on providing mobile healthcare services directly to patients in their homes and communities. Alert Healthcare was initially formed to address the needs of the COVID-19 pandemic by offering testing, vaccination clinics, and monoclonal antibody treatments. It has since expanded to offer a variety of in-home services, including 'Hospital-at-Home' which provides hospital-level care in a patient's residence, mobile integrated health, wound care, management of chronic diseases, and corporate preventative healthcare. Their services are designed to improve patient outcomes, enhance accessibility to care, and reduce the necessity for hospital visits. The company serves numerous communities throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
