And to make matters worse, they don't want to become a burden, so they just keep quiet and suffer. We began in 1984 when we realized that many citizens were isolated and had no one to help them. We welcome volunteers who want to "pay it forward" and connect with older people who have asked for help from the community.  We have expanded our service area five times to fit the growing need of olde Show More "Feel Good" Story Let us tell you about Pete.  Blind since 1993 from an old war injury, Pete has outlived those he loves, and it's our volunteers who make sure he gets everything he needs to remain independent, and to continue feeling like a part of society.
