Lauren Smith Aging Care Advocate and Owner Lauren has a decade of experience working with older adults and families in the midst of navigating the most challenging aspects of aging. Lauren knew from a young age that there was something special and sacred about spending time with older adults; listening to and learning from their experiences and life history. This interest led Lauren to work as an advocate for the most frail and at-risk as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman in Dallas County. Through the years, Lauren worked to resolve numerous concerns on behalf of residents including resident rights violations and poor quality of care, while also educating local community members and facility providers. Lauren saw first-hand the importance an independent advocate can make in a family's life and that led to the development of Legacy Aging Advisors.    Lauren attended the University of Texas at Austin for her undergraduate degree in social work and obtained her masters degree from UT Arlington. Lauren is licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, a member of the Aging Life Care Association, and completed the gerontology certification program at The University of Texas at Arlington. ​ Lauren enjoys spending much of her spare time visiting family in East Texas and being outdoors with her husband and two children.
